WHAT IS YOUR NAME?

Have you taken the time to ask yourself this question; “What’s My Name?”

When answering the question, do not be in a hurry to say “Rodney” or “Sandra” or “Paula” because these are names that your biological parents gave you.

In the Bible, we see that names often had a prophetic significance, and in biblical times parents named their children with a meaning in mind. In today’s society, names are chosen for various reasons, and often not just meaning.

In Genesis 17:1-6, Abram was renamed to Abraham:

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the Almighty God. Obey me and always do what is right.”...

God said, “I make this covenant with you: I promise that you will be the ancestor of many nations. Your name will no longer be Abram, but Abraham, because I am making you the ancestor of many nations.”

In Genesis 32:28, Jacob was renamed to Israel:

The man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob. You have struggled with God and with men, and you have won, so your name will be Israel.”

Your name is a description of

1. Who you are

2. Where you are

3. What you have

What has God called you?

When God calls you, He doesn’t consider who men say you are, where men have kept you or what men have given or taken away from you.

He calls you based on who He has made you, where He has destined for you to be and what He has given you. Oh Hallelujah!

One day, the angel of the Lord appeared to a young farmer named Gideon (who had never been to battle before) and said to him, “The Lord is with you, MIGHTY WARRIOR.”

“Mighty Warrior?” Gideon thought in his heart.

“This name you are calling me is inconsistent with who I am, where I am, or what I have,” Gideon replied

“I am the youngest in my family –which is in the weakest clan in Manasseh, and the Midianites have impoverished us.”

The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”

Gideon eventually accepted his God-given name and saved Israel from the Midianites’ hands with a great victory.

Maybe you’ve never done business before, but the Spirit of God is using me to call you “International Businesswoman” or “International Businessman.”

You may never have seen tangible miracles in your ministry, but God is calling you “Miracle man.”

You may not have given birth to your child, but God is calling “Mother of Kings.”

Answer the name that God has given you. The ability to become –is in your answer.

When you say “Yes” to God, situations and circumstances will begin to fall in place for you to become.

God will personally go with you and direct you on where to go, who to meet, etc., until His purpose for your life is accomplished!
