YOUR SEED IN FAITH

A few years ago, a brother in my church sent an envelope to me after preaching a sermon. When I opened it, I was shocked to see a relatively large amount of money. What surprised me was that I knew this brother's financial condition at the time.

That night I began praying for him. I told the Lord to give him an extraordinary miracle for the seed he had sown. The next day, as I wanted to spend the money, the Lord told me not to touch the money, so I didn't. A week later, I received a phone call from him that his wife had gone into labor and was rushed to the hospital. We prayed for her safe delivery, and she delivered a bouncing baby boy.

While I was speaking with him on the phone, I happened to ask him if he had enough money to foot the bills, and he told me that he virtually had nothing. The Lord immediately said that I should return to him the money he had given to me. Additionally, God told me that I should raise money in the church and help him settle his bills. When I called for people to give, we realized that we received almost five times the amount of money the man initially gave. He was able to foot the bills and have a substantial amount of money left with him to carry him for a while.

Later, I could not help but ask him why he sowed that seed when he did not have money to pay his bills. What he said to me touched me. He said he came to church and heard my message and was touched. The money he gave me was all that he had at the time. He told God that he wanted a miracle because a baby was coming, and he did not have enough money to meet their needs, so he sowed the seed to show God that he was dependent on Him.

I learned a vital lesson that day. When we give to God, it's not because He (God) needs anything, but He is seeking an occasion to bless us. In Psalm 50:12, He said, " If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine and the fullness thereof." So even that which you are giving to Him belongs to Him. When we give to God, exactly what we give would be multiplied and given back to us. Luke 6:38 says, "Give and it [what you give] shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom..." Since last week Thursday, when I gave that money back and now, I have received more than four times that amount of money! That's the way it works. God is not a partial God, as is seen repeated in scriptures. Why should He bless you when someone dies of hunger somewhere around the world the next minute? Your seed sown in faith will move Him to function on your behalf. Let your seed speak for you today!
